Dear Families and Friends,
We keep trying to learn German. Marianne does much better than I do, but I try nonetheless. However, I'm afraid I have just completed my last evening class at the Goethe Institute because work is both uncertain and, often, two hours away in Erlangen. I suppose I'll have to try self-study but I've never had much faith in the teacher in that case.
The best part of the Institute courses has been the opportunity to meet people, generally from other countries (and always younger.) My last class, from Taiwan, Japan, Italy, Lithuania, Iran, and the Hungarian part of Romania, was typical.
