HOUSE DIARIES

California Visit

Dear Friends and Families,

One of the reasons I like to join John on his business trips to Virginia, is that I get a chance to jump out to CA and visit family. I divide my time between Gabby in Los Gatos and Mom and Elemer in Fresno. The weather was a California spring pleasant and I enjoyed an all too quick 10 days catching up on family news.

Mom and Elemer are doing very well, healthy, and still making their daily walking trips out to breakfast at their favorite cafes. Mom hints at making “one more” excursion to Germany. She has been going to therapy to improve her knee condition and if that succeeds to her expectations, we may have a little visitor again next spring. Meanwhile, they enjoy entertaining friends, who came to dinner while I was there.

I also dropped by my sister’s office to see how she was handling the physical therapy traffic and she seems to have everything under control. I made a surprise visit to nephew Henry’s pizzeria, where he spends evenings, after school.

Gabby arranged a luncheon to reunite us with her cousins and Aunt Nancy, whom I haven’t seen in a few years. Spencer is engaged to be married to Rachelle in July. Caerrie is in the horse business with her mom. Sadly, Uncle Bob passed away 2 months ago.

Back in Los Gatos, I spent some time with Gabby and Mamal, going out to several very nice dinners. On Sunday before I left, Gabby and her friend Jill participated in “The Great Race”, a Los Gatos cancer fundraiser and afterwards a big group of us met for brunch. It was a great way to send me off, back to Virginia.

.

Marianne
