I'm still playing with "high definition" photography, seeing if it is worthwhile. Pictures of trains were useful, because the process involves three (or more) sets of pictures , each with a different exposure. Movement is bad, so stationary trains are good.

Here's my tests:

This column is the basic picture. Note the lack of detail in the very bright and very dark areas.

This is a "normal" image built of three exposures, a so-called "tone-mapped image". Much of the detail is restored.

Here are images with lots of adjustment, no longer really photos, but perhaps interesting in themselves.
