Finding
patterns in nature and man-made objects is the inspiration for
Zentangle. Designs of repeated patterns are created on 3 1/2 in
archival grade cards. This process is presented at workshops by the
founders of the Zentangle Method: Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. This art form is a departure from my other art work. With Zentangle, the work is small and very detailed. The cards are the substrate, on which the drawings are made with fine point Micron pens. Rick and Maria have developed patterns that form the foundation of the designs. How I put the patterns together depends on my own creativity. The result is an array of designs which are shaded and colored with black, brown, and white pens and graphite pencil. The process is relaxing, almost meditative. The focus and concentration eliminate distractions. The equipment fits neatly in a box, easily carried wherever one goes. My Zentangle cards are not for sale at this time, but I am pleased to share this method with anyone interested. Further information can be found on: Zentangle.com |
