Family Visitors
June
21-24
Written June 23-24 Dear Friends and Family, Marianne's brother Chris and his family came by for a visit. We always look forward to a chance to show off our neighborhood and it's even better when we get to show kids some fun places. Here's the visit with enough pictures to satisfy grandmothers back home. Thursday, June 21: Nuremberg Zoo About a month ago, I had gone on a photo excursion to the zoo to occupy my time while Marianne was off in California. That was so much fun that we made the zoo our first kid-friendly stop. This time, my pictures are light on animals and heavy on people.
Friday, Playmobile Funpark On Friday, we chose between going to the Geiselwind amusement park or to the Playmobile Funpark and fun won out. Since boys and girls have different ideas of "fun", the four boys went to the Funpark and the two girls went shopping. To each his own. I don't know about shopping, but the Funpark visit was all we could imagine from the "kid-powered" amusement park. For five hours, Adam and Spencer were climbing, sliding, swinging, balancing, running, and generally moving. Chris and I were worn out just from watching. Saturday, around home. Saturday was our home day: bakery, walk around Pommersfelden, playing in the yard, and bar-b-que. Sunday, leaving via Nuremberg. The travelers got up early, to make sure they could squeeze in a quick visit to Nuremberg -- after breakfast at home. Our car is not big enough to take everyone, so I stayed home. Marianne took the crew to a few of the "standard" attractions: the magic ring at N'berg fountain, street performers, and general exposure to the old town. Reports are that this last stop was fun, like the rest. For Marianne and me, this was a wonderful visit. Houses are so much more when they have the movement and action of guests. John and Marianne |
