March 14-27 Written March 28
Dear Friends and Families (especially Marianne),
I am back home and catching up. There was a backlog of washing,
grocery shopping, and bill paying. That took a day or two.
Then, part of what I do is just wander around looking at the
countryside. Here are some pictures of both a backyard walk and a
visit to Bamberg, my favorite local town and maybe my favorite small
town in Germany.
Where I walked yesterday (23rd).
Birds and buds and palaces.
Floods out back and sheep up on the dry land.

Bamberg, along the river.

My other project was to start taking house-sale pictures. Here is a link to that slide show.
Beyond that, it's reading mostly. I think I REALLY should have
stayed on the road. Pommersfelden without Marianne is just TOO
quiet.
Regards,
John
Post Script. I am still just kicking around. For exercise,
I go out and take pictures, not for the pictures, but for the
exercise. Nonetheless, once I HAVE pictures, I need to put them
someplace and here they are.
Nuremberg
is close by and can be picture worthy. On this particular afternoon, I
spent some time up at the castle that looms over the old town. I
visited the small museum and its assortment of armaments, including a
17th Century revolver, about two-meters long. I was also treated
to the daily well-lighting display where the docent illuminated the
200-foot(70 meter) deep well, explaining the difficult work involved in
getting potable water from this depth. Tough job.

Otherwise,
I tried to hit the various little village fairs that start happening as
Easter and Spring approach. Marianne will recognize which is
which, since these displays seldom change from year to year, although
the cold made me pass on any thought of buying yard plantings. I
will wait for trees to blossom first!

Finally, more walking behind the house, still under gray skies.
