Dear Diary, Friends, Family, etc,
These diaries have evolved (temporarily) into weekly summaries.
I'm not sure one week is any more special than any other lately, but at
I think we will appreciate the record, sooner or later.
House progress -- this may be an entry every week!
Saturday (10th), stucco and purple doors get painted. Ladder work still scares me!

On Saturday evening we joined some of our Cambridge Avenue neighbors at
a charity luau. Jean Fleck, one of the group, is the women's swim
coach at Fresno State and the luau is an annual fund-raiser for her
team. Despite the windy weather, it was a fun event for a good
cause.

Fresno Polynesian Society - Great Show
Dinner and the desert auction kept the party going as the sun - and temperature - went down.

Sunday was Mother's Day and, after an IHOP breakfast, Marianne, Mamo, and I drove down to Gabby's to hang with the kids.
The Mother's Day cake was in Mamo's favorite European style. Sam
had a special early birthday, courtesy of his great grandmother.
Hanging around.
Pretty soon the pool may even have water. We will check in a couple of weeks, when we are back for baby-sitting duty.
We stayed around most of Monday too, to help Gabby be a modern mom:
photo shoot at school; manage construction workers - plaster/paint,
pool fence, back fence, landscape - ; entertain kids at the same
time. We don't know how she does it.

The three-hour drive back to
Fresno was as boring as ever, flat farmland mostly, out to the
horizon. Summer is coming on, so the green is gone from anything
that is not irrigated. Of course, back home we loved the progress
on the house painting.
The
house itself was essentially done. I just hoped we could get some windows
to open. (we did.) The screens and shutters were primed and ready, but there
are over three dozen of them. Work remained.

Two days later:
The last days on the paint job were hectic - and warm, over 100F. But Benny and his crew succeeded.
|
And here it is!!!
|
Now we can finish our week with non-house activities - I hope. We'll report on anything interesting.
