Thanksgiving Plus

November 23-25, 2023

Dear Family, Friends, and Diary,

Not an exciting diary, but something for the record.

chargersFor 2023 Thanksgiving, we drove down to Los Gatos to join the Rahimi clan for their holiday meal. My day started with a Supercharge session at a shopping center 15 minutes away. I chose this one because the electric rate was $0.21/kWh, versus $0.36/kWh at a closer one. (It was kind of like when we would go to Costco to save ten cents on gasoline.) I also found that there were at least 20 Teslas enjoying free charging at lower power "destination chargers". What a deal.tree

Back home, I walked a bit in the neighborhood, in part to see the last of the Fall colors, but also to work up an appetite for too much food. I don't think there were any native, colorful, trees, but this neighborhood had plenty of imports. It was a good walk.

Back at the Rahimi Resort, food was being prepared and set out. Too much food. Then folks arrived, only a couple dozen, a relatively small gathering for this family's holiday events. Mamal's mom did check in from Iran, so maybe we can count her too.

With the addition of five-month-old Mila, there are now seven Rahimi kids, almost out-growing "the kids' table". While Baby Mila got the biggest part of the attention, we do need a record of all this generation as they go from little to not-so-little people.

The re-arranged pool house still held the crowd and was filled with a big turkey, tons of sides, drinks, and noise. As it should be on Thanksgiving.

Marianne and I needed to leave early the next morning, not to hit Black Friday shopping, but simply because we had things to do back home.

CybertruckWe did give Ava and her friend Stina (sp?) to the mall so they could fight for consumerism. When we dropped them off, we followed a Tesla Cybertruck on the way out of the parking lot. I canceled my reservation for the controversial pickup about a year ago and, seeing my first one in the wild, I remained happy with the decision, not for it's unusual styling, but simply for the realization that we no longer need such a massive vehicle.

On Saturday, Marianne joined neighbors in a "Small Business Saturday" sale of art and craft work in a neighbor's back yard. The weather was great. Friends were happy and cheerful. A reasonable number of potential customers showed up, but few wanted to spend on a level that Marianne's works go for. Disappointing, but there will be future sales venues.

And that was it. No plans for anything exciting, but we'll think about it.
