Dear Family, Friends, and Diary,Rahimis

I'll start this family diary with a picture Gabby sent of the Rahimi cousins, all fitted with Easter rabbit ears. What a cute bunch (or "colony" or "herd" according to Google.)

lavaWe did not make that family gathering, but we still enjoyed our own, quiet Sunday. (and Monday, Tuesday, etc.) Mostly we have been doing our at-home things, from watching YouTube (Iceland lava, electric cars, and European war) and Netflix (medical drama and comedies), to neighbor-visiting and painting. Medical distractions have been limited to adjusting to new elephant-in-the-room pills. Gabs

However, we were able to get in a short trip as well, one to our favorite Monte Sereno getaway, the Rahimi Resort. We were invited to take over the resort for free while the family ran off to Hawaii. All we had to do was mind the dogs and keep burglars away. A piece of cake.

On the day we arrived, we got to see Ava play her new sport: Lacrosse. We cheered, a little, but most parents admitted they were largely ignorant of the details of the game. Our side started quickly and lead 5 to 1, before the opponent made things difficult. The regulation four-quarters finished tied, as did the overtime. Everyone seemed to have fun and a win would have been a first, but the tie was the best performance of the season anyway.

Our dog-sitting duties were our excuse for doing hardly any thing at all. And it rained. Rita, Marianne's friend for five or six decades, dropped by for a visit, but otherwise we did pretty much what we would have been doing back in Fresno: YouTube, Netflix, and puttering. (And I finally discovered the Easter card and "Peeps" that Sam had left for us.)

On Saturday we joined the Hidas family in Santa Cruz to celebrate nephew Spencer's 19th birthday. It was definitely a trip highlight!

cousinsSunday was more of the quiet same, with a short family distraction. It was time for our monthly Zoom with a few of my cousins. We all managed to dial in from Seattle, Boise, Lisbon, and Monte Sereno, not always so easy for our vintage crowd. We talked about health, travel, kids, and grand-kids. Maybe a little politics as well.

Let's see.
