Dear Family, Friends, and Diary,
Therapy. That's what I need. Maybe we all do, except for the despicables who are gloating and celebrating.
For me, photography serves, as does the discipline needed to make these web entries. I don't even need an audience (although it's always gratifying when positive feedback comes back.) For Thursday after Black Tuesday, I joined Marianne for Fresno's once a month ArtHop and took far too many pictures. Now, Friday morning, I get three or four hours of site building. It all works.
For a page so photo-heavy as this, it's easiest to just throw up all the pictures and work in a few lines of text between rows for the story. Here goes:
The old street car barn and a friend encounter.
Robert Ogata is one of our favorites, and a friend.
Years after retiring from Fresno State, Bob still teaches.
Tim Pereia shares the barn area with Bob, his father-in-law.
Tim is also a friend and, occasionally, our plumber.
Bob and Sharon in Studio A display a wide range of works, some atop nice old furniture.
Heather's work was amazing.
The blue comes from sun-exposing chemically treated silk for a few minutes,
with plants shading parts. Then the pieces are pulled from the sun
and the photosensitive chemicals are washed out
Fig Tree Gallery always has interesting artists, even if we can't call them friends (yet).
A little political commentary and a fish.
Gallery 354 was new for me. The ceramic fish was charming and
I like Artist Pearl's paintings as well.
Our last stop is always Clay Hand Studios, for the works and to visit friend Ren.
This month's main exhibition was "Illumination", a collection of charming light-emitters.
We finished with a back-stage tour. Cats. Gossip. A reminder.
And that was our local art fix for the month. Fresno really does have some good artists and it is nice to call many of them "friend".
Will have no plans, other than as much self-therapy as we can manage. I wonder how THAT will turn out.
Stay tuned.
