Dear Family, Friends, and Diary,
We returned from the wilderness(es) and settled into home for the year's end. Now what? Traditionally, I'd write either a year summary or the list of New Year's Resolutions, but the first is a repeat of the Christmas letter and the second is a repeat of every year I can remember. ("lose weight, get/stay healthy, be nice").
Instead of looking back or looking forward, I'll work on being-in-the-moment. This day, "the moment" is just a backyard and neighborhood walk. An hour after starting, I had dozens of pictures most of which are repeats of past shots, but that's OK. First, I enjoy taking them. Then I sort through what I like, crop to just the subject, add or reduce a little light, and then upload everything. It's busy work, but we are all better when we are busy.
Pick your favorite and send it to someone.
The rest of the day will include a gym session, Fresno Ag shopping, fixing stuff with the Ag purchases, yard clean up, and another excellent dinner from our house chef. All in-the-moment.
I will probably work in some YouTube, such as the tour of Iceland I did yesterday, courtesy of Isak Finnbogason. This was a departure from his normal volcano drone flights and it inspired me to make use of what's in front of me. Isak had ice, snow, cliffs, and dramatic scenery. I have mild winter and home.
And a challenging puzzle.
Maybe we will do something interesting for New Years' Eve, but I doubt it. Mostly we will just stay indoors, protected from the bullets that will be shot up in the Fresno air - and fall down somewhere.
Stay tuned.
John and Marianne
