Dear Family, Friends, and Diary,
It seemed like a busy week, but doing what? On Wednesday there was a bi-weekly zoom from the old Sigma Tau Omega fraternity guys. Old guys, mostly enjoying telling old stories and bad jokes. It could be worse.
On Thursday evening, Marianne and I went to a prep meeting for our Sunday visit to the de Young Museum in San Francisco. The day-trip was being organized by the Fresno Art Museum and it was nice to have a "big excursion" in our future. (See next diary.)
On Friday, I went to a workshop of the Better Blackstone community group. They were sponsoring a study by architecture students from Cal Poly where the goal was generation of ideas for community input into a nearby major road construction project. Our two largest roads, Blackstone and McKinley, will be dropped down 25 feet to avoid the at-grade railroad crossings, and this generates opportunity for imaginative area development. Fresno needs the imagination and we wish the students well in coming up with inspiring ideas.
Saturday was the annual yard sale for Cambridge Avenue. Like in past years, we considered selling off some of our junk, but like in those other years, we just did not get organized enough. Next year?
This triggered the whole discussion of just what ARE we going to do with all our STUFF when we downsize in the foreseeable future. Furniture, art work, china, glassware, clothes, etc., etc., etc. We are looking for good homes for our treasures. Interested?
Sunday would be the bus trip to San Francisco, but that warrants it's own diary. Otherwise, Marianne and I did our regular: painting for her and a flower-picture walk for me. I particularly like this batch.
Just for the record, I'll note my continued puzzle-making distraction. This has been more active lately since my right knee and leg have been acting up, limiting walks and exercise generally. These three range from hard (lots of tiny parts in muted colors), easy (half the parts, in brighter colors), and a brand new attempt from our bus trip. (may be impossible, given the sameness of the colors).
The next diary will cover our Sunday culture trip.
Stay tuned.
John and Marianne
