Quick House
Tour
March 8,
2000
Hi,
It's International Women's Day and,
like most men in Ukraine, I have the day off and the wife is in the
kitchen cooking. Actually, it IS a big deal here and we already had
our fancy lunch out (O'Brians for a hamburger -- HER choice, honest).
I just wanted to bring you up to
date on the house renovation. Things are moving right along. On the left is the central
"Great Room" as it was 3 or 4 days ago. Maybe to YOU it's not so
"great" but we have imagination. On the right is the MASTER
bath, where even more imagination is needed.
To help the imagination, I'll show
a pair of the drawings of what WILL be. On the left below is a drawing of the
four-segment door between the Library and the Great Room. I think we
bought the apartment for these doors. Along side the doors, we will have
the lights shown on the right. Costs are strange
here, these lights are going to be custom made and they are not much
more expensive than just regular lights. Labor is cheap, even
(especially?) artist labor.
Finally, so you remember who we
are, here's Marianne
getting
plaster dust on her coat and me doing
roughly the same thing as I sit in my new office. Well, it WILL be my
office. Right now it's the workers' change room, lunch room, and field
office.
So, take care all you International
Women and remember, it's YOUR day. And if you missed it, there's
always another one next year.
Regards,
John and Marianne
