Small Hotels

Dear Friends and Families,
I am not fond of business hotels on business trips, especially not on extended trips such as I was now suffering in Lynchburg and Charlotte. We have managed to find a couple small places that break the mold and we thought we'd share this local guide info. As times goes by, perhaps we'll add to this short list.
Lynchburg, VA | The Residence Bed and Breakfast |
http://www.theresidencebb.com/ |
The Residence B&B was very pleasant, with a long history of hospitality from when it served as the residence of the president of Randolph Macon College. The four rooms, including the one I stayed in, are named after famous previous residents. | Innkeepers: George and JoAnne Caylor 2460 Rivermont Avenue Lynchburg, VA 24503 Phone: 434-386-7726 Toll Free: 888-835-0387 Fax: 434-845-6565 |

Lynchburg, VA | Acorn Hill Lodge |
http://www.acornhilllodge.com/ |
Acorn Hill has seven or eight large suites, with full-size kitchens. It's only a bit over a year old, and some of the kinks may still be being worked out, but the folks here are most friendly and accommodating. Acorn Hill has become my preferred Lynchburg address. | ||

Near Charlotte, NC | Davidson Village Inn |

Marianne and I stumbled into this small hotel one evening on our way to Charlotte. Although we stayed only one night, we were impressed with the large room, the generous breakfast, and the friendly staff. | 117 Depot Street Davidson, NC 28036 (704) 892-8044 or (800) 892-0796 |
