Blue Ridge and Blowing Rock

Dear Friends and Families,
On our weekend between my work in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a week in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marianne and I managed a quick tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway and "Blowing Rock", just over the North Carolina border.
The Parkway is nice, but mostly a long, slow, drive. I'm sure when the fall colors hit, these roads and waysides will be crowded, but that wasn't the case for us. We stopped at a display of "rural life" and watched rangers and volunteers weave, carve, and grind.
Going the other direction, from Charlotte to Lynchburg, we went through "Blowing Rock", a local Blue Ridge Mountains tourist mecca. It was fun enough, but don't try the boiled peanuts.
John and Marianne.
