Travel Start - Beaune
July 3-5
Written July 4 through 6 Dear Friends and Family, Our first destination was Beaune, the heart of the Burgundy wine region. We'd been here before, and enjoyed it so we thought it was a good place to start. It was. After the end of our eight-hour drive, we settled into the La Ville Fleurie hotel and went into town. There, we stopped at a wine shop and got both an education from Oliver at "Vinoboam", and a bottle of wine. (More details as I have time!) The next day, after an early morning photography excursion in the still-sleeping town, we visited the Hospice Museum, Beaune's signature tourist attraction. Again, this was a place we'd been, but it was fun seeing if it had changed. It hadn't. After that, it was a wine museum and an art museum. (More details as I have time -- maybe next winter!!) And here are our pictures: This may be more pictures than needed, but I think that will be a feature of our 2012 travel: more pictures than necessary, because it's fun to do! Another feature is that I am falling behind; hence, the very brief text and the promise to add details later. (That was my note on July 6 and I had good intentions. The reality is that there is never enough time to include all the details that I would like, so I'm afraid this stays as-was -- jdt August 9.) Now, on to Lyon.
